We are a Leeds-based photo booth company, from Swillington, and this part of Yorkshire is one we know well. Several of its best-known wedding venues are places our team has already worked.
Why the Selby and Goole area works so well for weddings
This corner of Yorkshire is easy to overlook, and that is part of its appeal. Selby is an old market town built around Selby Abbey, the great Norman church founded in 1069, with the River Ouse curving past the town. Goole, further downstream, grew up in the 19th century as an inland port on the Ouse at the end of the Aire and Calder Navigation, and its docks still give the town its character. Between and around them lie market towns and villages such as Snaith, Howden, Sherburn in Elmet and Escrick, with the Vale of York stretching north towards the city.
What the area does have in abundance is space. Big estates, old family houses and working farms mean couples can find exclusive-use venues with grounds to spread out in, often at a calmer pace than the busier venues in York or Leeds. Good road links via the M62, A1 and A19 also help when guests are coming from several directions.

Carlton Towers, Carlton
Carlton Towers is a Gothic Revival stately home in 250 acres of parkland and woodland near Snaith. It is one of the most dramatic houses in the region, and grand interiors like these are exactly where our black and white Glam Booth comes into its own.
Camblesforth Hall, Camblesforth
Camblesforth Hall is a Grade I listed brick house from around 1690, with rustic wedding barns alongside. It gives couples a choice of period house or barn styling, and either way a booth fits neatly into the evening.
Saltmarshe Hall, Howden
Saltmarshe Hall is a Grade II* listed 19th-century house in 17 acres on the banks of the River Ouse, just outside Howden. Elegant rooms and riverside lawns make it a natural home for a classic, refined booth.
The Peppered Pig & Pig Inn, East Cowick
The Peppered Pig & Pig Inn near Goole is a family-run inn with an oak ceremony room, a bridge room and bedrooms. It suits couples who want a warm, sociable wedding where everyone ends up at the bar and, sooner or later, in the booth.
Westfield Farm, Sherburn in Elmet
Westfield Farm is a family farm venue arranged around a converted granary, with receptions in a marquee or tipi. Our oak Vintage Booth looks right at home in a canvas and fairy-light setting.
Thicket Priory, Thorganby
Thicket Priory is a Grade II listed Victorian Jacobethan house with a tower, chapel and lake, in the quiet country north of Selby on the way towards York.
Hornington Manor, Bolton Percy
Hornington Manor is a Grade II listed manor house with a rustic wedding barn in the grounds, a short way north-west of Selby, towards Tadcaster.

Choosing your booth
There is no single right answer, but the venues here do point in particular directions.
- Glam Booth, from £650. Our Kardashian-style photo booth for Selby and Goole weddings at the grander houses. Guests step in front of a white backdrop under flattering beauty lighting, and the black and white portraits look timeless next to Gothic stonework or Georgian panelling.
- Vintage Booth, from £625. If you are after vintage photo booth hire in Selby, this hand-crafted solid oak open booth with a choice of backdrops is the one for barns, granaries, marquees and inns. Vintage clients can upgrade to the Glam Booth for £25.
- AI Photo Booth. A staffed booth with AI backgrounds, artistic styles, AI avatars and face swap, and instant prints. Great for a playful crowd, and popular for parties as well as weddings.

Your wedding DJ and photo booth in Selby

Good to know when planning
Most of our couples book 12 to 24 months ahead, and the estate venues around Selby and Howden are popular for summer weekends, so check your date early. A booking fee secures it, and the balance is due 14 days before the wedding.
At venues with several spaces, such as a hall with a separate barn, or a farm with a marquee, let us know where the evening reception will be. A booth placed near the dance floor and the bar, rather than in a side room, nearly always gets busier.

We booked Selfie Star Photobooths after seeing the photobooth in action at a wedding fayre. Booking with them was seamless and everything was so easy to access on the portal. On the day, set up was done with no issues whatsoever and our guests were free to enjoy the fun this brought to our evening. We met Sally and Wayne at a wedding fair and hiring them was the best decision ever ( despite already having a DJ provided within our wedding package at Aldwark Manor) we knew it would be an extra cost but we were willing to do this as we wanted Wayne as our DJ , and he was worth every penny, he made our wedding exactly what we wanted he listened to our preferences and tailored the music to our taste. The guests absolutely loved him. He also helped organise the dance floor which I wanted and provided letters. Sally on the photobooth was equally amazing, guests had such a laugh and kept Sally busy. Definitely a must have at any party. The added bonus of us receiving a copy of every photo taken that night and placed in a box was simply brilliant myself and my husband were able to look through these at our leisure and have a good giggle. selfie star made our wedding!! run by two of the nicest people we have ever met, Wayne and sal went above and beyond for us to make our special day run as smoothly as possible. They even took all the stress away before hand and communicated with the hotel about arranging the room and making sure everything we had hired from them would fit, they contacted the tribute band we had coming to the wedding and made their set up easier by connect up to selfie stars equipment which made our turn around from the day in to the evening party much quicker! The dancefloor, star light back drop and light up shoots completely transformed our room, it looked amazing!! we also had the dancing with clouds and cold spark fire work for our first dance which was also looked amazing! selfie star also hosted our full day and was our DJ Which I believe made the day run so well. They made us feel very special and organised all the special parts of the day to make sure they went as well as they possibly could and really made the special moments count! THe music was brilliant they played a mixture of songs we asked for and then a mixture of songs from 80s 90s and now which was great the dancefloor was full of people all night! highly recommended this company they are fantastic, we also had the table selfie centerpiece aswell which we and all our guests had lots of fun with and captured loads of memories! Absolutely amazing DJ and photobooth service for our wedding! Communication beforehand was excellent and they made everything so easy and stress-free from start to finish. They arrived punctually, were incredibly professional, and did everything we asked for with no problem at all. The DJ kept the dancefloor full all night and was also a fantastic MC, helping the whole evening run smoothly and keeping the atmosphere lively and fun. The photobooth was such a hit with all our wedding guests too! Wayne on the night of our wedding was brilliant, super friendly & arrived in plenty of time for the start of the evening celebrations! He had a great attitude with all of our guests, creating a fab atmosphere and we all certainly had fun! We also added late to our booking an audio guestbook, which was no trouble and brilliant to use! Listening back to the messages has been a real highlight. we loved our photo booth for our wedding last month. Not only did we hire that from Selfie Star, we hired the DJ, venue uplighting and sparkler fountains. We booked Selfie Star Photo Booth for our wedding and honestly it was one of the best investments we made. We went for the Kardashian filter to match our monochrome wedding theme and it looked incredible — the photos came out so stylish and elevated. Our guests absolutely loved it and were using it all night. The fact guests could have unlimited prints was amazing, and every print strip was personalised with our Mr & Mrs name and wedding date, with 3 photos on each print which looked so professional. Sally also shared a download link afterwards with all of the images, which was such a lovely touch. One of our favourite parts was coming home with a beautiful gift box containing copies of all the prints for us to add into our guest book and keep forever. Sally was fantastic throughout and everything ran so smoothly. We couldn’t recommend Selfie Star enough!
