Just got engaged? Congratulations! If you’re starting to price up suppliers for a 2027 or 2028 wedding, one of the first questions couples ask us is simple: how much does photo booth hire actually cost?
Here’s an honest answer, with real prices, what you should expect for your money, and the questions to ask before you book anyone.
The short answer
Across the UK, wedding photo booth hire usually costs somewhere between £350 and £1,200, with most couples spending £400 to £700, according to Bridebook’s 2026 guide. Where you land in that range depends on how long you hire for, the type of booth, and whether it comes with an attendant.
At Selfie Star Photo Booths, our prices start from:
- Party Pod (self-service, all-day hire near Leeds): from £425
- Vintage Booth (hand-crafted solid oak, staffed): from £625
- Glam Booth (Kardashian-style black and white, staffed): from £650
What affects the price of a photo booth?
1. How long you hire it for
Most staffed booths are booked for around three hours, which covers the busiest part of the evening reception. Ours come with 3 hours as standard, and extra time is £150 per hour.
2. Staffed or self-service
A booth attendant makes a big difference. They welcome guests, help with poses, keep the queue moving and make sure every print comes out perfectly. Self-service booths cost less because no one stays with them, but they’re dropped off during the day, which is great if you want the booth running from the drinks reception onwards.
3. The booth itself
A hand-built oak booth or a studio-style glam setup with flattering lighting costs more than a tablet on a tripod. You’ll see the difference in your photos, and in how the booth looks in your venue.
4. Prints and keepsakes
Check whether prints are included, and how many. With our staffed booths, guests get unlimited photo capture with prints every time, and you take home a gift box with a full set of prints plus an online gallery of every photo.
5. Extras
Common add-ons include extra hours, guest book services and premium backdrops. Our Guest Book Management service is £39: your attendant puts prints in your guest book and asks guests to sign it, so you go home with a finished keepsake.
Cheap photo booth hire vs luxury: what’s the difference?
If you’re searching for cheap photo booth hire, there are bargains out there. Just make sure you’re comparing like with like. A lower price often means:
- Fewer hours, or a short set time
- No attendant, so guests are left to work it out
- Limited prints, or prints charged as an extra
- Basic lighting, which makes a big difference to how flattering photos look
- No online gallery or keepsake for you afterwards
The photos from your booth are something guests take home and you keep for years, so it’s worth knowing exactly what’s included before you compare prices.
How to get more for your budget
- Go self-service if you’re near Leeds. Our Party Pod runs all day from £425 for weddings within 15 miles of our base in Swillington, Leeds.
- Book your DJ and photo booth together. Our Wedding DJ & Photo Booth package with our sister company Events DJ saves you money and gives you one team to deal with.
- Upgrade for less. Book the Vintage Booth or our DJ & Photo Booth package and you can upgrade to the Glam Booth for just £25.
- Time it right. Three hours covering the evening party is usually the sweet spot, when your full guest list is there and spirits are high.
Questions to ask any photo booth company
- What exactly is included in the price?
- Is there an attendant with the booth all evening?
- Do guests get prints every time, and do I get a copy?
- Is there an online gallery afterwards?
- How long is the hire, and how much is an extra hour?
- When do you arrive to set up, and does my venue need to know anything?
- Can I see real photos from weddings you’ve done?
- How much is the booking fee, and when is the balance due?
For the record, our answers: a booking fee secures your date, the balance is due 14 days before your wedding, and we arrive an hour before your booth opens.
When should you book?
Most of our couples book 12 to 24 months ahead, and popular Saturdays go first. If you’ve got your venue and date, it’s worth getting a quote now, especially for 2027 summer weekends.

Three hours is plenty for most weddings. For a big guest list, or if you want the booth from the drinks reception, consider extra time or an all-day Party Pod.
