From the Wear to the Tees
This corner of the North East packs a lot of variety into a small area. Durham itself is built around a tight loop of the River Wear, with the cathedral and castle on the peninsula together forming a UNESCO World Heritage Site. West of the city, Teesdale climbs into the North Pennines, where the river crashes over High Force and Barnard Castle’s market town sits beside the French-château-style Bowes Museum.
Downstream, Darlington is proud of its place at the start of the railway age, as one end of the Stockton and Darlington Railway that opened in 1825. Yarm has its wide cobbled high street and viaduct, Stockton and Middlesbrough have their riverside regeneration and the Transporter Bridge, and on the southern skyline Roseberry Topping marks the edge of the North York Moors. Couples here can choose between historic halls, working farms and modern spaces, often within half an hour of home.

Tees Valley and the Durham coast
- Wynyard Hall, near Billingham – a 19th-century mansion built for the 3rd Marquess of Londonderry and restored after a fire in 1841. Ceremonies take place in the chapel or the State Rooms, drinks are served in the Statue Gallery under its stained glass ceiling, and the estate’s restored walled garden is a visitor attraction in its own right.
- Dalton Old Pump House, near Seaham – a Victorian Gothic pumping station by Thomas Hawksley, restored and opened for weddings in 2022, with a bridal suite in the old blacksmith’s shop.
Teesdale and Barnard Castle
- Lartington Hall – a Grade II* listed country house whose oldest part dates from around 1635. Its 1836 ballroom, used by the Red Cross as a convalescent ward during the Second World War, is now a dramatic room for the evening party, and 12 bedrooms let the wedding party stay over.
- Runa Farm – a working farm with sheep and alpacas on the edge of town. You enter the wedding venue through a converted silo, marry in a stone-walled chapel with a tented ceiling and celebrate in a timber and stone barn.

Wedding DJ and photo booth for Durham and Darlington

Planning your booth in County Durham
- Estates with several rooms: places like Wynyard Hall move guests from room to room during the day, so ask your coordinator where the evening party will be and we’ll set up there.
- Weekend weddings: where guests stay over, as they can at Runa Farm and Lartington Hall, the party often runs late, so consider adding an extra hour.
- Timing: couples usually book 12 to 24 months ahead. A booking fee secures your date, and the balance is due 14 days before the wedding.

Yes. You choose when your three hours start, and you can add more time if you’d like the booth open for longer.
How do we secure our date?
After your quote, a booking fee secures the date, with the balance due 14 days before the wedding.

We met Wayne & Sally at a wedding fayre. They were both really lovely and approachable, discussing all of their options & packages. Their communication was excellent & their app is easy to use for updates, info on your package and payments. We met Sally and Wayne at a wedding fair and hiring them was the best decision ever ( despite already having a DJ provided within our wedding package at Aldwark Manor) we knew it would be an extra cost but we were willing to do this as we wanted Wayne as our DJ , and he was worth every penny, he made our wedding exactly what we wanted he listened to our preferences and tailored the music to our taste. The guests absolutely loved him. He also helped organise the dance floor which I wanted and provided letters. Sally on the photobooth was equally amazing, guests had such a laugh and kept Sally busy. Definitely a must have at any party. The added bonus of us receiving a copy of every photo taken that night and placed in a box was simply brilliant myself and my husband were able to look through these at our leisure and have a good giggle. We booked Selfie Star Photo Booth for our wedding and honestly it was one of the best investments we made. We went for the Kardashian filter to match our monochrome wedding theme and it looked incredible — the photos came out so stylish and elevated. Our guests absolutely loved it and were using it all night. The fact guests could have unlimited prints was amazing, and every print strip was personalised with our Mr & Mrs name and wedding date, with 3 photos on each print which looked so professional. Sally also shared a download link afterwards with all of the images, which was such a lovely touch. One of our favourite parts was coming home with a beautiful gift box containing copies of all the prints for us to add into our guest book and keep forever. Sally was fantastic throughout and everything ran so smoothly. We couldn’t recommend Selfie Star enough!

We booked Selfie Star Photobooths after seeing the photobooth in action at a wedding fayre. Booking with them was seamless and everything was so easy to access on the portal. On the day, set up was done with no issues whatsoever and our guests were free to enjoy the fun this brought to our evening. selfie star made our wedding!! run by two of the nicest people we have ever met, Wayne and sal went above and beyond for us to make our special day run as smoothly as possible. They even took all the stress away before hand and communicated with the hotel about arranging the room and making sure everything we had hired from them would fit, they contacted the tribute band we had coming to the wedding and made their set up easier by connect up to selfie stars equipment which made our turn around from the day in to the evening party much quicker! The dancefloor, star light back drop and light up shoots completely transformed our room, it looked amazing!! we also had the dancing with clouds and cold spark fire work for our first dance which was also looked amazing! selfie star also hosted our full day and was our DJ Which I believe made the day run so well. They made us feel very special and organised all the special parts of the day to make sure they went as well as they possibly could and really made the special moments count! THe music was brilliant they played a mixture of songs we asked for and then a mixture of songs from 80s 90s and now which was great the dancefloor was full of people all night! highly recommended this company they are fantastic, we also had the table selfie centerpiece aswell which we and all our guests had lots of fun with and captured loads of memories! Absolutely amazing DJ and photobooth service for our wedding! Communication beforehand was excellent and they made everything so easy and stress-free from start to finish. They arrived punctually, were incredibly professional, and did everything we asked for with no problem at all. The DJ kept the dancefloor full all night and was also a fantastic MC, helping the whole evening run smoothly and keeping the atmosphere lively and fun. The photobooth was such a hit with all our wedding guests too! We couldn’t have asked for better entertainment for our special day and would highly recommend them to anyone planning a wedding or event.
