The Carriage Hall is on Station Road in Plumtree, just south of Nottingham, in a quiet village setting with countryside views. Its mix of Victorian railway heritage and contemporary style gives couples lots of options, and a photo booth gives guests a fun way to celebrate between the speeches and the first dance.
A Victorian goods shed reborn
It’s the restored Victorian goods shed of the former Plumtree railway station, with a contemporary interior inside the original structure. The building dates back to 1895, and it was restored using a mix of traditional and modern materials. Some of its highlights:
- The Main Hall. Large glazed openings, sized like train carriages, and high beamed ceilings make the main hall bright and airy. It’s one of the venue’s approved ceremony rooms.
- The Mezzanine. Raised above the main hall, the Mezzanine has sofas and soft lighting, and is also approved for smaller ceremonies.
- The Saunders Room. A quieter room with a balcony overlooking the gardens, approved for the most intimate ceremonies.
- Grounds and terrace. Landscaped grounds with countryside views, a covered terrace, and the old railway bridge at the bottom of the drive all make great spots for photos.
- Stay on site. A small number of bedrooms, including a bridal suite, mean the couple can stay right where the party is.

The Glam Booth for a modern, editorial look. In a stylish space like The Carriage Hall, our Glam Booth works brilliantly: studio-style black and white portraits with a polished, editorial feel. This Kardashian-style photo booth uses a white backdrop and flattering beauty lighting, and the black and white prints suit the hall’s clean lines and glazing. From £650.
The Vintage Booth for railway-era character. If you’d like warmth and character, our Vintage Booth is hand-crafted from solid oak with a choice of backdrops. The oak echoes the beamed ceilings and the building’s Victorian roots. From £625, with a £25 upgrade to the Glam Booth.
The AI Photo Booth for something different. Our staffed AI Photo Booth offers AI backgrounds, artistic styles, avatars and face swap, with instant prints. Imagine guests swapping the goods shed for a steam-age platform.
Our self-service Party Pod is available at The Carriage Hall when booked with our DJ.

Planning tips for your Carriage Hall photo booth
- Talk to the coordinator about layout. The Carriage Hall has an in-house wedding coordinator, so ask where the booth can sit once the main hall is turned around for the evening.
- Use the Mezzanine flow. Guests often move between the main hall, the Mezzanine and the terrace, so a spot on that route keeps the booth busy.
- Time it for the evening. Opening the booth after the first dance, when evening guests arrive, gets the most people involved.
- Theme your print. A railway ticket-style design or your wedding colours turns each print into a keepsake.

We met Wayne & Sally at a wedding fayre. They were both really lovely and approachable, discussing all of their options & packages. Their communication was excellent & their app is easy to use for updates, info on your package and payments. Having used photobooths before, I can say the tech from Selfie Star was the best quality we’ve seen! We had the ICON! Wayne on the night of our wedding was brilliant, super friendly & arrived in plenty of time for the start of the evening celebrations! We met Sally and Wayne at a wedding fair and hiring them was the best decision ever ( despite already having a DJ provided within our wedding package at Aldwark Manor) we knew it would be an extra cost but we were willing to do this as we wanted Wayne as our DJ , and he was worth every penny, he made our wedding exactly what we wanted he listened to our preferences and tailored the music to our taste. The guests absolutely loved him. He also helped organise the dance floor which I wanted and provided letters. Sally on the photobooth was equally amazing, guests had such a laugh and kept Sally busy. Definitely a must have at any party. The added bonus of us receiving a copy of every photo taken that night and placed in a box was simply brilliant myself and my husband were able to look through these at our leisure and have a good giggle. Absolutely amazing DJ and photobooth service for our wedding! Communication beforehand was excellent and they made everything so easy and stress-free from start to finish. They arrived punctually, were incredibly professional, and did everything we asked for with no problem at all. The DJ kept the dancefloor full all night and was also a fantastic MC, helping the whole evening run smoothly and keeping the atmosphere lively and fun. The photobooth was such a hit with all our wedding guests too! We booked Selfie Star Photo Booth for our wedding and honestly it was one of the best investments we made. We went for the Kardashian filter to match our monochrome wedding theme and it looked incredible — the photos came out so stylish and elevated. Our guests absolutely loved it and were using it all night. The fact guests could have unlimited prints was amazing, and every print strip was personalised with our Mr & Mrs name and wedding date, with 3 photos on each print which looked so professional. Sally also shared a download link afterwards with all of the images, which was such a lovely touch. One of our favourite parts was coming home with a beautiful gift box containing copies of all the prints for us to add into our guest book and keep forever. Sally was fantastic throughout and everything ran so smoothly. We couldn’t recommend Selfie Star enough!

selfie star made our wedding!! run by two of the nicest people we have ever met, Wayne and sal went above and beyond for us to make our special day run as smoothly as possible. They even took all the stress away before hand and communicated with the hotel about arranging the room and making sure everything we had hired from them would fit, they contacted the tribute band we had coming to the wedding and made their set up easier by connect up to selfie stars equipment which made our turn around from the day in to the evening party much quicker! The dancefloor, star light back drop and light up shoots completely transformed our room, it looked amazing!! we also had the dancing with clouds and cold spark fire work for our first dance which was also looked amazing! selfie star also hosted our full day and was our DJ Which I believe made the day run so well. They made us feel very special and organised all the special parts of the day to make sure they went as well as they possibly could and really made the special moments count! THe music was brilliant they played a mixture of songs we asked for and then a mixture of songs from 80s 90s and now which was great the dancefloor was full of people all night! highly recommended this company they are fantastic, we also had the table selfie centerpiece aswell which we and all our guests had lots of fun with and captured loads of memories!
